my elder bro is finally engaged!

this entry is dedicated to my elder brother who's now prolly counting days to start a new life with his fiance

last sunday marks another historical, memorable date-to-remember in our family's event calendar. it was a simple merisik and bertunang ceremony, that took place in lyn's auntie house in sentul.

my bro, who shares age with hubby, has been a great help in our family ( and of course mine too!). he's an obedient, independent child who never troubled my parent's hard-earned money for his schooling fees. he was a bright student, scoring 4a's and ib in upsr long long time ago, which i believe he got b for writing cos he's left-handed thus explained the slanted unreadable cakar ayam. he never went to the offered boarding school nearby and later followed another brother's decision to enter sek men agama. only to find he's never too good for the stream school.

he wasted spent a year learning arabic only to be transferred to a sek men keb 2 years later. he was a naughty boy i might add, skipping classes whenever he feels like it, upah my cousin who wrote his lab reports, school notes and mostly for finishing his homework; but i am proud to say that in the end, he turns out all right. after spm, he took up petronas apprentice program for 2 year certificate in electrical engineering. following which he was bonded with an american chemical company in gebeng for 5 years if my memory doesn't fail me.

he was the mr fixer in the house. glasses broken, wait for habib. aerial tercabut, takpe, tunggu habib balik. washing machine cannot spin, habib will fix it. you name it and he'll always be there to fix them those kletuk-kletak sounds of washing machine while spinning, the broken glasses, the aerial, the everything.

despite his kindness, his ramahness with makcik and pakcik jiran tetangga who are dying to bermenantukan him (ehem this one i assume cos i'm so over perasan kan?), ayah and mak freaked out cos he never seems want to be settled down. his circle of good friends however had moved to another phase of life long time ago, some even have more than a kid. plus the fact me and my younger bro langkah bendul ie married before him. you knowlah how malay with langkah bendul thingy kan? so he'll be the joke of the day. suruh mandi bungalah, mandi tolak bala lah. mak tried to be the saviour, trying to outdo herself ; matchmaking him with her business's friend anak menakan. nope, sorry he's not interested.

therefore when finally he said he wanted to be engaged, of course, mak and ayah were the happiest person on earth. and i too shared the same sentiment. never mind that he'll just engaged for 5 months, never mind the panic attack mak (and the rest of mak mah's clan) might have to prepare everything for the wedding, never mind that i only met lyn once last sunday, never mind lyn is 4 years younger than me. bottom line i hope he's marrying the same good soul as he is.
