my my, where do i start? this little space of mine has been neglected for so long, that i do not know what to tell first cos a lot of things happen the last 2 weeks!!
hope this blog finds everyone in good health and spirits :), while i'm at it, SELAMAT TAHUN BARU to all my muslim readers.
ok, back to my subject, i just love lazing around and spending time with my loved ones. and last holidays was superb! i got to eat, eat, eat, meet hubby's best school buddy, attend wedding, meet my family and of course best of all, spend more time with hubby and alif :)
here comes my story to muor, to quest for mee bandung! it was an unplanned menu actually. i mean mee bandung has never been quite our no 1 list menu unlike steven's chicken grilled or mak's mee kari or joey's roti canai. but FIL told us that he wanted to visit his brother in segamat. so we talked about it over dinner. you know, which route to take, which PLUS toll to get out from. obviously we need to get out @ tangkak, so hubby happily reminisced how delicious the mee bandung we ate in tangkak a few years back after attending a wedding there. and at that moment i remembered reading anedra's entry on mee bandung. so i told hubby about it. hubby said why not? we proceed planning eating mee bandung regardless PIL coming or not. unfortunately, PIL couldn't make it to segamat in the end so we continue our quest nevertheless.
since muar is an alien place for both of us, i need to get directions. found good information on how to get to the most famous mee bandung in town. so whoever wants to explore muar, this could be a handy info.
obstacle 1: long and terrible jam
on glorious 30th jan @10.38 morning, we (nurul my youngest sis tagged along) left Kota Damansara toll. thinking the journey would be a smooth one, we anticipated would reach muar after 3 hours drive, just on time for lunch. but the jam was terrible. ended up 2 hours late!! yes, we reached muar around 4 pm, luckily alif slept troughout the journey and behaved well once he woke up. good boy! hubby silently prayed the food to be edible cos we were all hungry and tired.
obstacle 2: lost on jalan abdullah
with empty tummies, we look for wah san restaurant. this kopitiam resides in a 1 way street of jalan abdullah. 1st round, no sight of wah san restaurant. i didn't know what to expect, whether the shop is big, nicely decorated, or a simple plain kopitiam, or it would be on our left or on our right side. while hubby driving, i had to navigate him using a printed map i found on the net. knowing me and directions, he had to make 4 rounds and ended up on another road where a guy selling cendul on my right. as we made our way passing the cendul guy, hubby saw a teenager preparing satay! i was delighted! it had to be wah san! yes, at last we made a final round and looked out for a parking space.
with high expectations, we headed to kopitiam. yes, it says wah san and yes i saw the guy in the printed map preparing mee bandung. hooray for blogging :)
yaay to mee bandung! hubby bowled down 2 of them and with a satisfied smile, said ' i am more than happy to drive you back'. alif enjoyed the equaly tasty mee soto. ahh needless to say, just look at the photo -> will upload soon.
will continue later roadtrip: melaka
