aqiqah and marhaban

alif's hair was cut by one of the imam Posted by Hello

aqiqah refers to sacrifice made on the seventh day of the birth of a Muslim child. on that day, the child's hair is cut/shaved and he/she is given a name. the sacrifice is enjoined by Islamic law and is observed in the Muslim world as a sunnat. if aqiqah is not done on the seventh day, it can also be done afterwards, even by the child itself. the holy Prophet instructed his followers to sactifice two goats for a boy and one for a girl. in alif case, we sacrificed a cow. neighbours and relatives came to prepare the dishes.

later at night, marhaban, or praises to holy Prophet, took place. it is a sung to infants as to welcome them to this world.
