roadtrip: penang

my quest on penang cuisines are conquered although my poor tummy is now still upset. it's a feast trip allright but i reckon my tummy isn't as strong as a bull :( anyway, thanks to suggestions found in a blogger's, i went for jalan² cari makan² at penang island :)

obstacles:
-ONE WAY
the thing with penang roads is that they have lots of one way, one after another, right in its center of town. confusing!
-POOR SIGNAGE
is it me with directions? or particular road we look for is badly labelled? took us 45 minutes to get to temporary location of gurney drive hawkers, thanks to jammed too. people are rushing back from office. empty tummies + reckless drivers = bad combination
-LIMITED TIME & SPACE
this is predicted considering lots of places to go in 10 hours. how can you eat as much as you like when you know you tummy gonna explode in a blink of an eye,and in next 30 minutes you gonna gobble more food?

achievements:
revenge is sweet. enough said. will let photo speak for itself.

recommendations:
- fried char kuay teow
RUDY's at permata mapley stall (opposite shoplots, near toy museum and sandy bay hotel). the other famous is mak ngah's -note:dunno where exactly but it's in teluk kumbar as recommended by 7-eleven helpful cashier. we were glad we listened to the local's.

- nasi kandar s hameedia

at macalister road. no regret, i assure you.

- pasembor
of course at gurney drive hawkers. but only 3 stalls are available that day, the rest are nowehere to be seen. i missed the previous taste of pasembor, one before tsunami struck. but but but the cucur udang was awesome!

disappointment:
-roti canai
at transfer road, but there are 2 stalls, i tried the one near big drain with more customers, in fact i sat on a chair, on a plywood meant to close the gap, put exactly on its big drain cos i vividly remember the blogger said "big drain, transfer road". however, much to my dismay the roti canai with special daging gravy is not to my liking. too hot, too red. or maybe because i expected better than joey's. better luck next time, i hope. or maybe i went to a wrong stall, or maybe i didn't order their best homemade dhal/curry?

anyway, all in all, i am a happy content person.
