PIL's vs moi house: pros & cons

due to many reasons, i've been staying with my PIL for almost a year. most of my friends would ask how is it to be staying with MIL( apparently PIL never been a problem to all perhaps :P). and some were shocked why we (hubby & i) stayed there during weekdays and only go back to our weekend home during weekends or public holidays hence the name.

kecik macam mana pon rumah sendiri, best lagi rumah sendiri

i could not agree more. i always look forward to going back to my own house, no matter how sekejap. it's like going for a holidays for a break he he nway i feel like sharing my current life now and anticipating how it's gonna be when i go back to HQ in july.

i am lucky to have a supportive PIL to begin with, therefore my cons are quite predicted. nway, the pros are:
  • well eaten
lots of food and not to mention good yummy home-cooked food too! FIL is a very good provider, he loves buying food and stuff us with special food available in town. for example, he'd go to ampang point to get the roti john, or go to hulu klang for the yummy lemang. during ramadhan he'd make a point to go to the busy kg baru to get the best soto ayam in KL! MIL on the other hand is a retired-now-teaching-private islamic school KH teacher who enjoys cooking every now and then for her family & colleagues (and menantu pon join dua kaki :P). among her special dishes are rendang ayam, sambal udang, puding caramel, baked macaroni & laksa kuala ( hehe trust me, she makes the laksa from the tepung gandum herself!).

  • save money on petrol
this contributes as the main factor why we choose to stay with them cos both hubby & i are currently working in KL, which is nearer to PIL's. imagine on school holidays, i could reach my office in freaking 15 minutes! heaven nyaaa!! on magical day, 15 minutes tu dah siap masuk parking, and naik lif.
  • crispy sun-dryed laundry
yes! nothing beats this, the sweet smell of dyn@mo's laundry in hot sunny day. though i seldom get this nowadays :( plus my hardworking MIL always offers lending a hand at folding & sometimes washing them! ee teruknyaaa menantu he he
  • on alif
since alif is the only cucu at the moment, so the whole attention and love of tuk & pah are devoted for him only. anything that he points at, be it the expensive ceramic vase that he crashed, he'll get at his hand within minutes. all he need to do is some finger-pointing exercise, maybe add on some facial expression or hentak² kaki to complete his demand. i know, i don't like it too but i guess the effect of this will be one of the cons.

here are the cons:
  • on alif
like i said above, alif becomes dependent, manja terover& at times like that, i wished i was at my own house so that i can rule/ discipline him my own way. also, i'd smack his bottom when pah wasn't looking. that explains why he behaves badly when tuk or pah is around. sabo je laah!
  • less privacy
but since we have the weekend home this shall not be elaborated. *wink

you know what, i think the cons will just revolve on anything about alif. cos frankly i don't have any problem or issue with my in-laws (thank God!). i believe when july comes, i need must change my attitude and be more rajin so that i could still feed hubby & alif appropriately. maybe not close to what we have now but who knows i'll be more independent and creative with my cooking. nasib baik hubby never read my blog or else he'll justify every statements here hahaha

so how is it to stay at my own place? hmm.. let's see
  • on alif
of course will benefit more, i hope. i want to teach him to be more independent and instill some discipline in him. also to teach him that the word NO exists in this world hehe i do sound cruel eh? plus i plan to start toilet-training him, and to make him sleep at his own bed. also to make alif fully utilize the swimming pool since he loves water so much
  • on being a creative home maker
another good point is that the house will not be neglected as now. i have ample time to sweep , mop, decorate and beautify it. also to decorate alif's room. bestnyaaa! i drool over ikea's children section **sigh actually have been planning on alif's room for some time but other matter is prioritized. better start buying few stuff first, and complement it slowly.. tak cukup duit nak beli semua at one go.

i anticipate july will hold many surprises. i know major adjustment should be made or else our life will be miserable.
  • unpredictable meal time & new routine
alif for one, will be cranky if he's hungry. so i need to work on a good timetable for his meal times. plus i need to scout for a good day care centre around SS15, hopefully affordable. am currently paying rm250 mthly, any suggestions please? i hope the day care / pusat asuhan is not too pricey over there. appreciate your suggestion, tq.

but part of me cannot wait for july to come cos probably i will be doing something totally new with a different environment & challenges. i really hope i'll progress well being a working mommy & wife.

i think another pro staying with inlaw/ parents would be, they are the best babysitter whenever you go to work/out...

But i do agree with you abt the privacy thingy.. Sometimes you just wanna have fun! Rite??? Hehehe

i stay quite close to my mom's so everyday before i go to work i will send him to my mom's place. kalau i kena stayback i tak worry because i know he will be taken care very good kan. tapi mmg manja giler la.

for me i lagi suka duk sendiri biar la penat mcm mana pun sebab privacy wise. lagipu my husband very fussy eater so bile duk rumah sendiri mmg senang la masak ikut selera die

LD, that's a bonus for you; that you live very close to ur parents. normally atuk nenek memang spoiltkan cucu.. tuh org ramai ckp.. wow, you cook everyday!! where did you get the energy from? i selalu kalau balik dah flat.. :(

soy, you did? cepatnyaa!! anak aku tuh kalau aku tido sekali..lewat la dia bangun tapi kalau aku bangun awal, dan² tu jugak dia nak jaga.. cepatnyaa faris bercakap.. dah pandai ape lah dia ek?

cucu kalau stay ng atuk mmg pampered n i really agree with u when u said kalu tok/nek is around anak lg nak tunjuk degil/perangai dia, same goes with irina!(the only cucu la katakan-i hope u can cope up well with yr new life-managed rumahtangga, anak n hubby dlm satu masa n without PIL around to help u,trust me not as tough as wht u think it would,so enjoy ya!(esp the ehem ehem privacy ehem hihi)

mommamia, erkk ye ke tak tough? mphh part without PIL's help tu memang akan terasa la sbb they're very helpful esp bab layan kerenah alif. we'll see how it goes **praying hard TQ!

btuah alif.got perhatian dr your PIL..
but my opinion ..when we apart from PIL.the more we learn..and the more we understand our kid..and our huby..but be prepared for any circumstances..I mean selama ni kita kan dlm comfort zone..so nt akan adala anything yg new..be hepy to explore..
