alif started to get fever and runny nose last wednesday. so, after fetching him from nursery, straight away to nearest GP. doc confirmed his condition and concluded just a normal fever. but alif refused to eat any solid food, just entirely dependant on his milk consumption, which was drastically lower than usual.
he also had troubled sleeping, due to blocked nose. and refused to go to school. kesian sangat but i had an urgent matter that thursday so memang kena tinggal nursery. my heart was broken to see his sayu look, and he cried his heart out as a sign of protest. i hate to be the cruel mommy :( :(
managed to get a leave on friday though, having settled everything and a short discussion with my boss. alhamdulillah.. planned to squeeze some time for monthly bill payments tapi malam jumaat tuh, alif asyik kata gatal gatal kat tapak kaki.. pelik jugak sebab bukan nyamuk gigit pon.. i just rubbed those areas anyway.
that friday morning, small clear reddish spots were all over his body! yes, alif had measles. a quick trip to the same GP confirms my diagnostic (:P hahaha kembang sekejap.. maklumlah dulu pernah teringin nak jadi dr) but pelik jugak la sebab he had his MMR jab.. (why still berjangkit eh? anyone cares to share info?) so of course la kena monitor dia thoroughly. and berkubur lah to-do-list hari tu..

What are the symptoms of measles?
- a fever at about 39ºC.
- a cold.
- coughing, possibly with a barking cough.
- sore throat- the lymph nodes in the throat may swell.
- reddish eyes.
- sensitivity to light.
- greyish spots, the size of grains of sand may appear in the mucous membrane of the mouth just around the molar teeth. These are called Koplik's spots and can be seen before the rash appears.
- after three to four days the temperature may fall, although it can run high again when the rash appears.
the rash usually begins around the ears and spreads to the body and the legs within a day or two.
at first the spots are very small - a couple of millimetres - but they double in size quickly and begin to join together.
- the spots are a clear red colour.
- the temperature, which may run as high as 40ºC, may stay that high for a couple of days. Then it disappears together with the rash, which may leave some brown spots.
- after a week the child will be fit again.
haii, thank God dah amik cuti.. senang sikit rasa hati, boleh nurse alif.. sapukan calamine lotion, bagi minum air kelapa, bagi ubat. and memang extra manja & cranky je dia.. tapi layan je.. sebab kesian. and paling kesian dia tanak makan tu sebab rasanya sebab mulut dia sakit.. dia asyik bukak mulut cakap sakit sakit je.. and i saw his tongue pon pelik sikit.. mulut dia jangan cakap la.. merah cam pakai lipstick jer
so, sampai semalam, dia masih tanak makan. kesian sangat... dokong dia pon rasa ringan je.. bila bukak baju, perut buncit alif pon dah takde.. londeh je pakai diaper. pipi tembam dah cengkung sket **sigh
ya Allah, Kau sembuhkan alif cepat² ..kesian nengok muka monyok dia... my alif dearest, makan banyak² macam selalu tau!!.. dah berapa hari alif tak main bola, tak nyanyi² ceria, tak happy. be good boy ya. mommy loves you.

is it possible to ada measles in your mouth?I was just wondering. Also, Rey is due for her MMR jab and i've been told she will be sick. Is it true?

alahai..same goes with me last week bila irina demam teruk n terkena pulak masa tu keje opis byk,appointment dah set,betul2 i stuck,mmg terasa mcm cruel mommy je kan when we still hantar anak sakit kat nursery,masa ni rasa mcm nak berhenti keje je,n rasa sian kat anak kita tak mcm anak org lain yg dpt 100% care form their mother,but we have no choicekan?huhu..
sian alif kena measles,but the moment i baca alif gatal kat kaki n taknak minum susu sbb mulut sakit,i ingat alif kena HFMD!nasib baik measles..awak,dont worry irina pun case yg sama ngan alif,she still got measles even dah ambik MMR jab,kena 2 times pulak tu!i pun tak tau how this thing happened,but maybe their antibody still weak lg(irina kena masa 5mth n 11mth,terukkan),antiodi still tak develop well when the virus attack so ada tendency nak kena jugak,maybe la kot (my theory je ni hihi)
keep on bg air kelapa biar kluar cpt,ada jugak org ckp kalau tak kluar habis ada tendency nak kena lg,n psl dia taknak minum susu tu maybe ada ulcer kat mulut sbb bdn panas,sama je la alif ng irina..
sabar k,i doakan alif will recover soon,so boleh mkn byk2,minum susu byk2, boleh main bola n active mcm selalu,i kalau irina sakit masa ni mesti fikir biarla dia aktif melasak sepahkan rumah penat badan mcmana pun i sanggup drpd tgk dia terbaring melepek tak sihat,tak smapai ati tgk..k awak,pjg gila dah comment ni,dah mcm entry plak hihi,kiss kiss utk alif!get well soon k baby!
dear farah, thank you so much for the warm wishes :) alif is recuperating though still no appetite just yet. nway from the article, the only possible explanation is Kosplik' spots but i'm not sure myself. he started taking milk like usual thus i don't see the need to confirm (that) with doc. I couldn't recall how alif reacted to MMR jab but the worst thus far alif just had a mild fever which is common after immunization jabs. Good luck Rey btw i prefer paed to jab on thigh than montot hihi nanti baby susah nak sit down properly :P
mommamiaaaaa awwww tq for the long comment. appreciate it :) :) HFMD??? my collague kata symptom measles nih similar to dengue.. eee both are scary thoughts eh? alhamdulillah memang measles la.. alif should be up and about actively soon. pasal kena dua kali tuh yeah i guess our antibody systems work that way. haii kesiannya irina kecik² dah kena ekk?..2 kali plak tu!! yang i baca kalau u tak pernah kena measles then ada tendency irina kena lah.. and agreed with you..lagi sanggup nengok rumah cam tongkang pecah dari nengok diorang melepekkkk and passive kan?

Aku xder exp on measles nih so xtau nk komen apa. budak2 kan musti kena thru mcm2 penyakit utk kuatkan antibodi kan.. tp tulah.. kita mak nih, anak sakit sikit jerk kita dh susah hati.. inikan pulak bila sakit smpi xnak makan.. mcm dihiris2 hati dibuatnya...

soy, tq for the doa :) huhuhu masa pegi GP tuh.. measles dah start naik kat muka dia.. in fact ada org nengok alif je pon dah boleh agak kena campak kee? memang pipi alif merah, tapi paling merah bibir dia laaa.. merah giller ok? but aku punya sibuk jaga anak sampai tido pon tak terurus, lupa langsung nak amik gambar alif..so boleh citer je lah..takde gambar nak prove hihihi (mak camera freak :P) nway sejak demam ni, perangai dia makin menjadi² whining jeek 24 jam.. tapi sebab demam aku ikutkan je.. aznel tuh tak kasik can pon.. dia buat derkk je kalau anak dia tuh buat perangai. mphh ke aku yang terlebih kasik muka??
huh! kaum2 bapa mmg mcm tuh. mr papa aku tuh pun cantuh jugak. kaum ibu nih hah yg terlebih layan kdg2 tuh. kesian punya pasal. Tp kata org tua2 budak xelok layan sgt sbb nnt bila dh baik pun makin menjadi2 sbb dh syiok ada org layan. tp tulah kan.. nama pun mak. bila anak sakit, meragam canner pun layan jugak...
