last friday morning we arrived at pasir tumboh (tq to airasia's cheap fare he he) feeling excited. guess who's more excited than us, yess my mak! we reached the small rented house, with her voice serenading the background with quranic verses, slow but very soothing. ahh feels like home already :)
i seriously think my mom is a supermom, reason being she's a supercook.
imagine a limited 8x10 kitchen area could produce 3 dishes from scratch less than 30 mins! wohoo mak memang power. udang harimau masak lemak cili api + fresh rebung, ikan terbubuk goreng + sup sayur (for alif). spells yummy dontcha think? and alif should give the verdict. he ate all nasi & carrot & bertambah nasi tu.. seriously tasty!
and it only got better the next day. menu included a big periuk of bubur lambuk (to be donated to masjid & pass to her besans) besides the fried mee and lauk untuk nasi putih. alahai puasnyaa dapat makan air tangan mak.. barulah rasa complete. nothing beats our mak's air tangan, don't you think?
anyway, the neighbours @ pondok exchanged menus at the evenings. just like my childhood time! i remember being called while playing, just to send whatever dish/kueh mak made to cik Kiah, (arwah) cik Husin, mamak cik Yah, cik Ros. it's a bit sad though that suddenly the tradition stops. we exchange menus on morning 1st syawal je.. kenapa lah ek? is it because dah tak buat kueh/masak sendiri (blame it to pasar ramadhan!! :P) or cos no more small kids to push around? i seriously think something of good value (such as tukar juadah) should remains.
having said that, the experience was memorable. glad i'm still around to celebrate ramadhan with my loved ones and especially bonding time with mak @ terawikh. alhamdulillah..
and hopefully many more years to come..

wah bestnya dpt jumpa parents,dptla ilangkan rindu sekejapkan?i totally agree wtih u,mom's cook is the best!kdg2 mak2 kita ni masak campak2 je bhn dlm kuali but the taste marvellous!n i was drooling bila baca udang masak lemak + terubuk goreng tu,my fav!n about budaya bertukar2 juadah tu mmg jarang esp kat big city,but kat kg i still ada lg-so raya nnti parents u blk tak?or u pegi pasir tumboh raya sana?
he he mommamia, memang best. ape lagi.. gi lah tesco ke carefour ke beli udang galah /harimau.. NOW!! hihihi sajer je ngusik.. ikan terubuk memang lemak & manis tapi lecehkan nak makan..sebab tulang dia mak aii..berselirat! nway raya my parents balik jengka (their home).hihihi this time diorg experience the excitedness balik kampung. selama ni asyik dok call anak/menantu dia tanya sampai mana dah? selang 10 minit.. lepas ni turn my bro pulak yang track diorg kot hehehe
alahai..seronoknya dengar citer ko diah.. sihat ke mak mah ngn pak imam?..well..tahun nih tak kacau dodol ke?..aku teringinnnnn sgt nak mkn dodol mak mah yg pekat, likat dan nyum nyum tuh... (must make sure come to ur house before u're going back to ipoh!!...)..selalunye wak nin hantar gak dodol ke rumah sbb dia tau menantu x jadi nih hantu dodol !!
alahai, psl memasak, mak-mak kite mmg superb..cubit sana, campak sini..dah siap satu juadah..klu kite nak siapkan satu juadah..makan hours!!seronoknye alif ek, mkn air tgn nenek...
hmmm...sedapnya... rindunya masakan mak. Minggu ni nak check mak free ke tak!

sedihnya tahun ni tak dapat berpuasa dan beraya ngan family (esp ngan hero saya 2 org tu..).Nasib baik b4 bertolak ke sini sempat balik jengka...sempat la merasa air tangan mak...agree wif u...masakan mak tak ada tandingannya!
ibu lya..ko jangan cakap je..tapi MESTI datang tau! dodol tu taktau la pulak, mak aku pon dah tak berapa larat dah na.. sian aku nengok dia..elok pon dia stop meniaga kalau tak tak tau lah canner.. kalau ade sure aku soung ko awal² hehehehe wak nin tu memang baik kan..? *wink

bro id, hehe yep my kg is where my parents are. they stay in pasir tumboh to ngaji pondok. ooo oghe kelate ko? dok jeddah, patutlah kejap kat madinah kejap mekah.. bestnya dapat live & experience diff culture kan? tq for dropping by
