i promised earlier to blog about my trip to melaka, but overweight workload forced me to procastinate. and today when i have the time in the world, i no longer feel the excitement, the thrill to jot down every little thing that we did chorologically. i guess i'll just sum it up with adequate photos.
the first thing we did (actually throughout the journey to muar) was to make hotel reservation. i blamed this on hubby, who refused to plan properly when to go to muar cos we knew monday and tuesday were still public holidays, which means that the hotels will be fully booked. but optimistic hubby thought otherwise and i believe secretly plan not to make necessary arrangement for hotel accomodation and consequently have to spend an overnight at his good school buddy's.
i felt bad however, for his doctor friend waited for us since the evening while were still enjoying our mee bandung in muar. he got married to someone at my age and we've met few times mostly during wedding receiptions or twice @ kenduri doa selamat. kiranya can clique laa :) plus they have a daughter few months older than alif and a 7 m-o doting son.
since hubby and i refused to 'susahkan' them preparing dinner, we went to umbai. pssst.. actually i insisted eating there to flashback memories when studying in MMU :). it used to be best place eating out then. from the junction to the place itself took us about 15-20 minutes! imagine, there were so many cars on both sides of the road and more people at the shop lots although it was already 9.30 pm. that's it! i thought the earliest we could eat would be 11pm! but we were lucky to spot an empty table and hurriedly select crabs, squids and prawns. so an hour later, hubby and nurul had their mouth-watering dishes while i had to bring alif to nearest shops to distract his attention. by the way they had rebuild the shop lots so they are nicer now, also there were people selling handycrafted goods nearby.
with full tummies, we whole-heartedly went to search bukit katil. me and directions never go along well he he but fortunately we took the right route and about some 20-25 minutes later, we saw the doc patiently waiting outside the grand entrance of his place, just next to the security booth.
alif was already asleep, while doc's wife was putting the kids to sleep. i freshen up myself and went on dozing off while hubby was chatting with his doc friend. must be reminiscing their cadet life or teenager's moments. i had no idea when hubby finally went to sleep, all of us slept like a baby! so the next thing i knew, it was already morning. all of us woke up and prayed and finally went down to the dining hall.
while hubby and his friend went out to buy breakfast, doc's wife and me busily chatting, exchanging stores of being a working mom and then moved on to topics like decorating house :) actually they have just moved into the place for a mere 2 months but with the detailed and proper decorations, i would need to spend and wait 2 years! their furniture, flower arrangements and even rina's room were nicely put and decorated! i was really impressed! she said all was done (including curtain sewing) by MIL. there was english touch added to it cos MIL spent few years in new zealand, she said. rajinnya la the MIL kan?
after breakfast, the obliged friend told us that they will bring us to some interesting places in melacca. so we thought why not? and happily proceeded with the idea.
hubby spotted some nicely decorated t-shirts @ one of the shops along jonker street but was frustrated cos we couldn't find a parking space around. so the next place to go was the st paul's hill. we spent half day exploring the historical place and here are some photos taken.
we had to climb the narrow rocked stairs along the steep hill in order to go to the st paul's church. it was a sunny and scorching day to begin with, therefore i told hubby to bring the stroller. but i think the place was not user friendly for those babies and elderly people :(. anyway once we reached its top, alif was trying hard to get out from the stroller and keep pointing to the statue. takpe kee? dalam hati, i mintak doa banyak² , mintak dijauhkan benda² yang tak patut.. yelah precaution kan? better safe than sorry especially since it's the historical place, bekas church pulak tu!
see how happy he was? really scary la i felt especially when rina too wanted to stand on the same spot! padahal tengah panas time tuh. doc's wife pon paranoid jugak but rina was not as persistant as alif, who willingly cried and make a scene when i angkat dia.
nih kat lokomotive train.. just next to laksamana cheng ho gallery, when you climb down the hill. there was also a roman built building around but the guard told us to purchase tciket in order to enter. this is another point that need to be taken. firstly, the was no proper entrace saying that we should purchase ticket, we just found the small notice board on our way down to stadhuys. so unorganized! and we're actually at local/tourist place of interest! should anyone reads this blog accidentally, and belong to the respective group, please highlight/adress these issues accordingly. heh public service la pulakk :P
another few shots. enjoy!

all in all,we had a good time in melaka. to the hospitable host, thank you very much for your help. and yes, the assam pedas rocks! till our next rendezvous.
before going back, hubby purposely made a round trip to mmu and to ayer keroh for some photo shooting. after a good 7 years the ambience and atmosphere were totally different. and bbi was beyond recognition! haha i had my joy seeing these: restoran sajian utama, kedai kah kah and of course bbi :) to bbi girls, i miss seeing you guys la. bila la nak jumpa lagi?
